Global Issues Community Discussion Series

Where is the real story? Technology and the instantaneous media cycle have transformed "News" into a confusing mix of traditional institutions and rapidly changing sources: blog posts, Twitter feeds, Facebook, issue based websites, and whatever the next new thing will be. As information consumers, how do we determine which sources are reliable, objective, and legitimate? With recent events related to Russia and Ukraine as an example, we address these questions and more. Join IU History Professor Ben Eklof, award-winning journalist and IU journalism student Rosemary Pennington, and Russian native Diana Sokolova, also an IU journalism student, for a panel discussion with time for questions and answers. Drop in.
