Join us for two short films celebrating the creative aging process as part of the city wide Creative Aging Festival.=0D=0A=0D=0AMr. Dial Has Something to Say=0D=0AThornton Dial is a self-taught artist who only began making art after his retirement as a skilled laborer in Bessemer, Alabama.  It wasn’t long before he was discovered by the outside art world, and showing his figurative sculptures, paintings and mixed-media assemblages in galleries and museums in New York City.  His art functions like folk tales, combining African and American traditions to tell stories that are at once personal, political, and spiritual. (60 min.)=0D=0A=0D=0AWater From Another Time=0D=0AThis film explores the life-styles and creations of three elderly artists of Orange County, Indiana.  Archival footage includes Lotus Dickey playing his violin, Elmer Boyd, inventor and Lois Doene, artist and poet.
